Our uniquely designed 2-weeks community work enables volunteers to do a 1-week community work and 1-week travel to beautiful and exotic Ghana for cultural immersion and support to vulnerable children and community development in Ghana.
This program offers people a unique opportunity to tour Ghana and experience the culture of the people while volunteering.
This program starts with an orientation about the local culture, history/religious issues. After 4-days of working with orphans, HIV aids education, Teaching, Health project and Conservation. Each participant would be given the chance to choose from the above mentioned fields where he / she may volunteer for 4-days. Please find below details of each of the fields you can volunteer.
PROGRAM OUTLINES FOR 2008
Program: Summer Holidays in Ghana. (1-week community work and 1-week Travel
Start Dates: 1st -14th and 16th - 30th of every month.
Arrival/Departure: Kotoka Int. Airport.
Language Requirements: English.
Room/Accommodation: host families/hotels.
Food: 3 time’s daily local/Int. meal.
Activities: Please see details below.
Working hours: 19-29 hours per week.
DAY 0: Airport pick up and hotel transfer. Participants rest the first night in Accra.
DAY 1-3: Travel from Accra to Kumasi the next morning, orientation in the office which covers safety issues, climate expectation, host family conditions, working project etc.
After breakfast volunteers will be transferred to their various project sites. Whiles there will be orientation with local staff, discussion of job responsibilities and other issues?
The 3 days work consist of care giving, teaching English, sanitation, cleaning, washing, playing games, draw pictures and some extracurricular activities and community development.
DAYS 4 -14 (10 DAYS GHANA TOUR PROGRAM)
DAYS 4 -6: ASHANTI TOUR:
Participants will visit some unique and popular tourist attraction centers of the Ashanti region.
A visit to Bonwire the famous historical town of Kente colorful clothes.
A visit to the Ashanti palace museum, Ntonso Adinkra village, Ahwiaa Craft village, Military museum, the national Cultural Center, the central market, Owabi bamboo forest, Bobbie forest and Lake Bosomtwe,One of the biggest and natural lakes in the world. Participants may spend a night at the luxurious hotel near the Lake (Kessben Hotel)
Participants will be transferred to Cape coast on the 13TH DAY after dinner.

DAYS 7-9: TAMALE TOUR:
Depart for Mole National Park/Elephant Dome
Mole is a wildlife observatory. Here you can watch creatures in their natural habitat from observation centers.

DAYS 10-11: CAPE COAST TOUR:
Cape Coast, formerly known as the Gold Coast, used to be the capital city of Ghana.
Tour Elmina Castle and Slave Dungeons, visiting shopping centers/markets and the exotic beaches of Cape coast
A visit to the Kakum Forest has one of the few remaining canopy walks in the world. The bridges overlook Kakum Forest and its wildlife. The walks, hanging over 100m in the air may test the bravery of the group, as they cross 7 bridges total. Make a stop over at the Hans Cottage crocodile pond.
A visit to the Cape Coat castle.

Overnight at Elmina Beach Resort or Similar
DAYS 12-13: KUMASI-BUSUA BEACH RESORT TOUR: Depart KUMASI for Busua Beach resort in Ghana's Western region. Here you may enjoy water sports and other activities. Take a Canoe ride to visit a nearby Busua Island. Go on a walking tour to visit Fort Metal Cross at Discover.

DAY 13-14: TRAVEL TO ACCRA, TOUR, PROGRAM ENDS AND DEPARTURE.
Participants will be transferred to Accra the next morning, day tour of Accra. Visits to the National art center, cultural center, and National museum and trekking through the big markets of Accra/shopping, visit the Kwame Nkrumah memorial park.
Program ends at 2pm and report writing.
