What Happens after l submit my application?
A staff member of R.V.O will contact you shortly your completed application form is received. Give us one week to prepare your placement details, hostfamilies information etc.
Will someone pick me up from the airport?
Yes. This is included in the price. You will be met on arrival by one of our staff, who will transfer you to your accommodation. Participants are advice to send copies of their flight itneries to us before your arrival in Ghana .
Are there special dietaries for vegetarians?
We will strive to meet any dietary requirements you may have, and will ask you to declare these on your booking form.
However, please bear in mind that your choice of meals may be considerably lower than what you are accustomed to in your home country.
What type of accommodation should I expect?
Participants should expect a shared flat from local Ghanaian host families, during tours participant would be accommodated in hotels.
Will I be safe?
Your safety is a primary concern for us, and we will take all reasonable steps to ensure that you are safe. We only go to areas with excellent track records for safety. However, no trip can be guaranteed to be one hundred per cent safe, and each guest must recognise that travel to developing countries is, in general, less safe than travel to developed countries.
What if I get sick?
Our pre-trip information pack will provide you with how to minimize the risk of falling ill, and our staff / host families will also brief you on hygiene. Even though R.V.O will pay for all sickness bills during the project, we strongly encourage you to take out comprehensive travel insurance that will cover the event that you fall ill. This coverage should certainly include all medical-related expenses, and emergency air lifts where required.
Will I pay extra fee after paying the project fee?
No, there is no extra fee to be paid after you have pay the project fee. Please find below the fees, what the fee covers and what does not.

Yes, you can travel or volunteer with friends, family members and upon request for the same project and host family R.V.O will arrange for you.
Can I change my project after I find out that my chosen project is not worthy and have interest in another r.v.o project?
Yes, upon notification r.v.o can change project for you, also working project is subject to change at unavoidable circumstances, but volunteer will get same nature of work

How important is the R.V.O 2-weeks language and cultural program?
This program is uniquely designed to prepare volunteers before they start their chosen projects. This program will enables you to know Ghanaian history, culture, language and the people in General.
Do I need to speak another language to volunteer?
Our programs do not require that you to speak the local language. However, a basic knowledge of English is necessary to follow the instructions provided by the local staff.
Do I need any specific skills to volunteer abroad?
No. Our placements are designed to accommodate all levels of skills and experience.
Will there be time to travel when I'm volunteering abroad?
Free time is available some afternoons, most evenings, and every weekend. Our local staff can give you suggestions for places to visit, or you can create your own agenda. During your weekend you can take excursions to other parts of the country, or you may choose not to travel, and stay in town to get to know the community better. You may also choose to travel after the program.
How long can I volunteer?
The Volunteer Abroad program ranges from 2 to 12 weeks.
Will I have a specific placement for my volunteer work, or will I be involved in more than one?
You will have a specific placement, however depending on your skills, interests, and the need in the community, you may be involved in more than one. If you are unhappy with your placement, we do our best to find another placement that better suits your needs.
As an individual can l apply for R.V.O group program ?
All R.V.O group programs are not for groups alone but it is for individuals who have the interest as well.
Where and How can l receive visa for Ghana ?
Visas can be obtained from Ghana embassy / consular in your country of residence.
Where and how can I book my flight to Ghana ?
Flight / air tickets can be booked online or from any tour agent/operator in your country. Upon request R.V.O can book your flight for you from any of our tour partners . Note : you are to pay for the cost of the flight.
Are volunteers insured by the R.V.O ?
No, all volunteers are advice to insure themselves before their arrival in Ghana.
Can you tell me more about in-country transportation ?
Please note , transportation from airport to hotel ,transportation from accra to kumasi are included in the fee ,but transportation from hostfamily to project and project o hostfamily ,kumasi to accra are not included in the fee. Except those who apply for group programs.

R.V.O has projects across the length and breath of the country so it is very likely all applicants would be offered a placement , In cases where applicants failed to travel , R.V.O reserves the right to refund the deposit unless applicant agrees to change arrival date . Deposits are accepted by R.V.O just to know applicants seriousness and commitment.
Is the water safe to drink?
In all R.V.O programs, safe drinking water is provided. Our staff will also inform you about health issues when eating and drinking outside of the r.v.o Home-Base.
Can we go out for dinner?
R.V.O provides breakfast, lunch and dinner. However, volunteers are always free to independently explore local eating establishments. R.V.O staff are always available to recommend wonderful, unique restaurants in the community.

The accommodations varies. However, we provide a Home-Base structure in all our locations, typical housing consists of a comfortable house in a safe, conveniently-located neighborhood. Clean, modest accommodations with shared occupancy rooms are the standard. Lodging arrangements always have basic amenities like electricity and running water (including hot water where appropriate). As part of the R.V.O program, local cooks prepare and serve daily meals .
What age groups and nationalities do your programs attract?
We attract participants of 17 years of age and above from all around the world.
What forms of communication will be available for me to access in Ghana? Will there be internet, telephones, and post offices available?
This all depends on your placement; however, almost all of our placements are close to the major cities where volunteers will have easy access to phone, internet, and post office.
How much extra money should I bring?
Volunteers will be provided with room and board from the very first day to the last day of the program. Therefore, you won't need any money to pay for these expenses. However, if you are planning on taking part in activities outside of the organization, or if you just want to buy some souvenirs, you will need to bring extra money in order to do so. On a side note, you must also remember the visa fee, which varies depending on the length of stay and mode of entry. There is also an airport tax, which you pay upon your departure from Ghana . This can cost around 25 US dollars. You will want to determine the amount of extra money you are to bring based on these factors .
